Description

Walk in the footsteps of the Hudson River School artists and learn to shape your own creative vision with your camera.  During this unique 3 day experience, we will spend our time together learning about the art of photography.  We will visit the home and study the work of the father of the Hudson River School of Art, Thomas Cole.

Later, I will take you to several of my favorite photo locations and I will show you how to capture your own print worthy fine art image.  This workshop is designed to improve your photography skills, teach you about photography as an art form, and how to create a technically improved image.

Session I: Learn how to create a "WOW" photograph worthy of exhibition.  How do photographers "see" an image before it is created? What are the elements of a quality image? On day one we will explore these questions.  We will also learn about the Hudson River School artists, visit the home of Thomas Cole and study photography as ART. During the afternoon we will set out on a photo safari and explore the majestic Hudson Highland in search of an image that expresses your creative vision.

Session 2: We will view your favorite images and discuss the qualities of each image. You will learn how PPA (Professional Photographers of America) judges view and judge professional images and how to successfully submit photos into competition. You will select your favorite two images and learn how to edit them in Photoshop and prepare them for printing.

An image isn't complete until it is PRINTED!  Today we will learn about the fine art of printing and how different paper types affect the look of a printed photo.   You will select an image and learn to print, mount/mat and frame it for show.
